Is QuickCad for me?

I'm doing some work to my house, and have been looking for a simple CAD
package so I can toss some ideas around, such as door and window
positioning, furniture layout etc. etc. I've not used a CAD package before,
but, yes, I'm reasonably competent on a computer, and was considering buying
Quickcad 7. Is this package suitable for this type of work, or should I be
looking elsewhere? Is it really easy to use, as everyone seems to tell me it
is? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

It is an easy to learn and use 2D program. I use its twin AutoSketch for floor
plans all the time.

For a one time use to get a visualization of what you want, I would
recommend Home Architect. See:
http://www.zdnet.com/products/stories/reviews/0,4161,2354204,00.html and
http://www.max-info.com/catalog/3dartect.html .
On the other hand, if you want actual working drawings to give to the
building dept. or your favorite contractor, you can't beat QuickCAD.
Just my opinion,
Walt
