Guide Lines

How does one turn off the guidelines. I have used the view menu and gone to
the tick that suggests the guidelines are on. I have turned them on and off
many times but they remain on. Is there something else I should be doing.
Any help is appreciated. There are also some other qwerky thingsgs happening
in the backgound. ie snap on and off are being activated and I have not done
anything. Should I reload the program?

Kim,

Is it possible that you are referring to the grid? Try View>Options>Appearance
tab and unselect the Show Grid check box under Reference Grid.

Hi, Kim.

I use AutoSketch and I'm not certain you have the same commands available, but
I'll tell you what there is in AutoSketch.

In the Standard Toolbar, there is an icon, Edit Guidlines. Select it and choose
Vertical, Horizontal, Rotated, Two Point, Rotated, etc. Place the guidelines
where you want.

You are saying that you cannot eliminate these guidelines. In AutoSketch, once
the guidlines are placed, you will be able to reselect the guidline icon, and on
the Edit bar - on the right - there are two Delete icons (large red x'es). One
of them SHOULD work. Unticking the Guidelines box in View>Options ONLY makes the
guidelines invisible. It does not delete them. You have to find that Delete icon
in the EditGuidelines Edit bar.

Say how it goes.

Aha, Keith. That's why you guys work for AutoDesk and I DON'T! I'll bet that's
the issue completely. Since I rarely use the grid it just never occurred to me.

For my work, I haven't found a use for the grid and it just seems to get in the
way. I build up furniture in pieces in various areas of the drawing and then
move them into position with the various translate tools. The drawings are all
relative to any particular bit I choose. Good going.

Never used them before. Could be nice. I usually just pop in a few lines then
delete them when done.

Tried the visibility and it worked as you said in AS 6.1.
