Changing a dimension???

If I want to change a dimension, how could I do??? If the real dimension
is 4.986" and i need to put 5.000" on my plan, is it possible?

Select the dimension.

Right click

Select entities

In the Edit Entities, select dimension tab

In the label block replace <> with 5.000"

Alternative

If you have your edit toolbar on, once you select the dimension, the label
will appear in it. You can change it there.

OR
Change your decimal precision to 2 places.
OR
Stretch the item that you're dimensioning .014". Don't forget to include
the dimension when setting the marquee. This really the best thing to do.
Having mislabeled entities has a way of coming back at you.

If the entity that you are measuring is drawing the correct length (5" in this
case), you can redo the dimension using an end snap (type E before making the
dimension).

You are correct about having the dimension not read its actual length.

Thank you for the helpful information, i'm new at it . No, the precision is not
important in my case because it's only a sketch( first draw). By the way, don't
pay attention to my spelling, because i'm French and I try my best in English...
Thank you.

Other than changing the drawing to reflect the 5.000" instead of the more
accurate 4.986", the only other method I know of is the "explode" the
dimension into its separate elements. From there, you can doctor up the
number with whatever text you want. The down side is that you cannot regroup
the elements and have the measurement change as you move the end points.

Doh! Maybe I ought to pay a little more attention to date/time stamps. (I
hate having to resync a large newsgroup!)
