Test Text:

The AutoCAD 2004 Service Pack 1A and the AutoCAD LT 2004 Service Pack 1A should be applied on all supported operating systems and languages. There are separate service packs for the locked and unlocked versions. The service pack is required for any AutoCAD® 2004 extensions. Please see the Readme file for each service pack for a summary of the primary issues they resolve.

Note: If you want to use the Autodesk Network Installation wizard to deploy AutoCAD 2004 Service Pack 1A, you must download and run the Autodesk Network Installation Wizard patch. For more information about this patch, see the associated Readme file.

If you use the Live Update feature in Communication Center, the service pack version that you need is automatically identified. If you have the same product in multiple languages, all applicable versions will be patched. Separate patches are needed for locked and unlocked versions.

If you download the service pack manually, download and install the locked version of the service pack if you are using:

An educational or trial version of AutoCAD 2004 or AutoCAD LT® 2004

The International English version of AutoCAD 2004

Download and install the unlocked version of the service pack in all other instances.

General Information

Autodesk Product Support strongly recommends that you read the entire Readme file before you apply the service pack to your product. The Readme contains the latest information regarding the installation and use of this service pack.

Autodesk Product Support also recommends that you create a backup of all custom MNU, MNS, MNR, MNL, and MNC files before installing the service pack.

During the installation of this update, you will be prompted for the original installation CD or network image. Once this service pack is applied, you cannot run an automatic uninstall to remove the service pack.

Service Pack 1a contains an updated Hewlett-Packard optimized printer driver that was not in Service Pack 1. Service Pack 1a will update any of the following installations that had previously been updated by Service Pack 1:

stand-alone installation

network administrative image

client installation created from a network administrative image

To apply Service Pack 1a to a stand-alone installation, follow the installation instructions that are shown under "Apply this Service Pack to a Stand-Alone Installation" in the Service Pack 1a Readme.

If Service Pack 1 has been applied to a network administrative image and that image has been used to install the product on local computers, the procedure for, "Applying this Service Pack to an Installation Where Service Pack 1 Has been Applied" in the Service Pack 1a Readme, must be used to apply Service Pack 1a on those computers and on the network administrative image.

Important: Once the administrative image has been updated with Service Pack 1a, you will not be able to apply Service Pack 1a to clients previously installed from this administrative image. You must first update all previously installed clients with Service Pack 1a before modifying the administrative image with Service Pack 1a.

Follow these links to download AutoCAD 2004 Service Pack 1a or AutoCAD LT 2004 Service Pack 1a.

To have the customized profile available in a new Windows account:

Start AutoCAD for the first time after installation with the standard profile, for example, <<Unnamed profile>>.

Make modifications to the AutoCAD options in the current profile; properties are stored in registry/profile. Note that every variable that is marked with an AutoCAD icon will be saved in the drawing file and not in the profile.

Export the profile into an ARG file, for example, to Myprofile.arg. Note that AutoCAD always exports to the current profile. To control which is the current profile, use the command CPROFILE.

Review the ARG file that AutoCAD writes out. All the key entries have the standard <<Unnamed profile>> profile, for example:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R16.0\ACAD-203:409 \Profiles\<<Unnamed profile>>]

Change these entries appropriately with the customized profile name and save the file.

In this example, replace the <<Unnamed profile>> entries with MyProfile using an text editor. For example:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R16.0\ACAD-203:409 \Profiles\MyProfile]

Now you can create a program shortcut under all users with your customized and corrected AutoCAD profile.

In the Target box of the Shortcut Properties, enter " c:\program files\Autodesk\Autocad 2004\acad.exe" /p "c:\program files\Autodesk\Autocad 2004\Myprofile.arg".
