Plugin wizard crashes Visual C++ 2010 express

Im using 3DS Max 2014, and am trying to use Visual C++ 2010 express to create plugins.

I have the SDK, and I copied the plugin wizard files( 3dsmaxPluginWizard .ico, .vsdir, .vsz ) to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\VC\Express\VCProjects (Copying them to C:\...\VC\vcprojects didnt work, the template did not appear).

The template appears, but when I press finish, Visual C++ crashes, and re-starts("Visual C++ has encountered an error and needs to close").

I have tried using a different file directory for the maxSDK files, and different plugin types, but nothing has worked.

If anyone know how to solve this problem, help would be much appreciated.

Might be the Wizard files are read only.

Once I try VS 2012, which reports "read only" (so that I know) instead of crashes.

Yeah, it is documented in readme.txt:

4. Make all files in wizard file folder to be writable and not read only. If this is not done, than visual studio may generate an
error after creating the plugin project.

I thought I had changed that, but 2 hadnt been changed.

It still crashes, all three files are writable, I also made the maxsdk folder writable.

I may be doing something else wrong, the file paths I use are:

C:\...\maxsdk (should I go deeper, or higher up?)

C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2014\plugins

C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2014 (should I add \3dsmax.exe to the end?)

Ive tried adding the \3dsmax.exe, copying the maxsdk folder to another place, but nothing has worked.

See "Make all files in wizard file folder to be writable and not read only", not just those 3.
