Plotting too light

Can someone please explain why files received from different architects affect how my plot style prints?  I'm using my set plotstyle but plots are almost too light to read.  Layers are set to default line weights in both files.  This printing problem happens in both model and paper space.  Using AutoCAD 2012 standard.  Would like to know if anyone else has this problem.

Not sure how to answer your question, not sure what CTB or STB is. Don't feel it is the line weight steetings, have double checked against another dwg file that prints as intended. Let me know if I need to send dwg files. You don't know what type of plot style table you are using? Or if you use one?

SAo what does "too light" mean then?

I have a set plot style that I use for all my dwg files, but this particular file doesn't appear to follow it. I didn't understand what CTB or STB stood for. Use a ctb plot style. After rethinking, this happend once before when that architect was using Rivit. Is it possible there is a communication problem between the 2 programs? Using AutoCAD 2012. There are two types of plot style tables: STB (relies on your actively setting objects and layers) and CTB (uses screen color). When posting for remote assistance, it helps if detailed information is shared: thank you for doing so in this last reply (CTB).

Can you better define "too light"?

No, just an food service equipment training session. OK, the print appears to be in draft mode, all lines are the same weight. Thought it might be related to the rivit created xref so I drew my own base plan, inserted and ran another plot, no change. Its not the title block because the second sheet in the set does not include the xref and plots correctly. If you have access to dropbox can upload some files so you can see my problem.
