opening drawings and printing over WAN is slow

Is there a way to increase the access time so printing is faster?

I have AutoCAD 2013 and access drawings over VPN (6 meg pipe).

Both opening the drawings and especially printing them take a very long time.

It takes about 8 seconds to open drawings, due to all the modules loading on the bottom-left of AutoCAD. Printing takes even longer than opening the drawings.

Is there a setting I can change to speed-up access time?

>>>... about 8 seconds to open drawings...<<<
That's pretty decent speed for a "6meg pipe": AutoCAD is a resource hog and does a lot of read/write/temp files, it's not an MSOffice lightwight.

WOW  I would be jumping for joy at  8secs to open across our VPN

I'm looking at 45-60 secs to open.......then having to wait for commands to start

working !

pendean, is there anything to increase the speed?
Money aside, would upgrading the pipe from 6meg to 100meg make a difference? If I place the drawings on the local server, it takes a mere 2 seconds to open drawings. What, if anything can I do to duplicate this access time on drawings over a WAN

What is your speed between locations?

Correct, your local server is not networked with such a low-end connection (10-100-1000, right?).
