I installed Autocad program into a new computer, now I need to configure
the printers for it. When I opened Add Plotter wizard, I faced three
choices, they are "My Computer", " Network Plotter Server" and "System
Printer". My company use reguar network printers and plotter, do I need to
choose Network Plotter server"?

Thanks for your help,

Hey Xing,

If the printer/plotter is connected to your physical computer then start
with the "My Computer" option, or if the printer/plotter is out on the
network then start with the "Network Plotter Server" option

Hope that helps

Kevin:

The printer/plotter is connected to a network, and my computer is connected
to network too. So I guess I need to use "Network Plotter server" option.
But based on the "Add-a-Printer" wizard, I need to use "My computer" since
this option will install the printer/plotter driver for my computer
specifically.

Did I get it right?

Xing
easier to configure as a system printer and point to the desired printer
in your printer folder (windows start/settings/printers)
if it does not show there, then add it using the standard windows to
add the printer first then configure AutoCAD... you might get more help
at the AutoDesk.AutoCAD.print-plot user group, or read the AutoCAD
help/manual, it is quite simple and straightforward.

Xing,

If the printer/plotter is attached to the computer via the Parrallel
Port/USB Port etc... then start with the "My Computer" option.

If the printer/plotter is attached to some other device on the network then
start with the "Network Plotter Server" option.

You might have the "My Computer" option confused. Use this option if the
Printer/Plotter is atached to your computer via a cable of some sorts.
(parrallel cable, USB cable etc...)

/kevin

From your description you should be using the network plotter.

Kevin:

You are right. Your explanation is rather straight forward too. Thanks,
man.
