Hi there,

Here is a series of 6 videos showing how an Alias model I build was transfered into Fusion
and edited there and in the end completely rebuild natively in Fusion.
This is part of my lecture series for my industrial design course shwoing the students
the difference between a surface modeler such as Alias and a solid modeler like Fusion.
Enjoy!

Alias is a pure surface modeler with a construction history and a lot of terrific modeling options for transportation design. Unlike fusion alias offera true 3d sketching with out relying on construction plans and 2d sketches.
Fusion is fantastic for solid modeling alias is very weak at. Rib web shell tos are such that make fusion strong for this. 3d sketching and free form surfacing sculpting in fusion is pet limited compared to alias.
I use alias for the a surface and fusion for the internal geometry.
Fusion is also offering physics and cadcam. Both alias does not.
I hope this helps seeing the difference.
A very good product to replace alias would be solidthinking because alias is so.ewhat limited in some areas because it focuses mainly on car design and not product design.
