While searching Revision Controlled items.

Current Scenario: While searching for Revision Controlled items, current search returns all Revisions of the items.

Problem: 90% of users while searching for revision controlled items are interested in the Latest Revision. So when search returns Multiples results it confuses users on which result to click on. In most cases we have to give our users access to Historical Releases.

Idea: Search should reutrn latest revision of the item by default. If a user wants to access older revision, they can do that from Item Deatils.

this is good that this idea has been accepted so quickly. I would add that retrieving the latest revision is not enough.

This has to work in combination with the state. While some users will only have access to the released state, others will have wider access and the latest revision may not be the same for two different users.

eg

Rev A   Obsolete

Rev B Released

Rev C Released  (yes we can have situations where two different revisions must released)

Revision D  In Work

What is the latest revision ? In the absolute this is D, but depending what I am after, it would be C as it is the latest released.

How does Autodesk plan to implement the submitted idea ?

The plan is to offer a faceted filter alongside the workspace list facet with following options: - Latest Revision (default) - All Revisions - All Including Working Additionally, the Search results would expose the lifecycle state of each hit for ease of recognition. Facets such as filters by lifecycleState, workflowState are also in the plan. Hope this helps.

With the new Search Tool, all the result will show Latest Revision.

User will also have additional option to select from Latest Version, All Verisions, and Working Versions when they perform search on Revision Controlled Items.
