Ability to use runtime filters for charts

We would like the option to use a runtime filter with a chart so that we could use charts in the following two scenarios.

1. A dashboard chart would allow a runtime filter based on the current logged in user, allowing the same dashboard chart to be reused on many user's dashboard but only displaying content in the context of the user.

2. Adding a chart to the item details tab via iFrame and passing a filter value that is available from the item details, which would provide a visual status on many items that are related to the current item being viewed.

I believe that this feature would also be useful for our tenant.

Is there any particular reason that it's not currently possible? It seems to me to be a basic ability of report creation.
