Project Management & Linked Items Terminology

Guys,

Please can you tell me why the 'Add Linked Items' button in the Project Management button is named as such? It implies you can immediately have access to all the Items you have listed in the Linked Items tab for the currently viewed workspace item. Instead of Add & Add Linked Items, maybe Add should become 'Add Local Task' & Add Linked Items should become 'Add Item'. Its confusing terminology.

In fact the terminology for 'Linked Items' throughout PLM 360 is confusing. The permissions to activate the Tab are permanently called 'Workflow Items' but the tab is only called Workflow Items in Revisioning Workspace if its setup that way as an override in the WS Tab Names setup. By default the tab is ALWAYS called the Linked Items tab. The only clue to the Workflow Items permissions being for the Linked Items tab is in the description for the permission:

To confuse the issue further, the WS settings for this tab is named the 'Workflow Items Tab' but then the UI Title says Linked Items:

12-10-2012 9-32-57 a-m-.png

Its a bit of a UI consistency nightmare really. Smiley Sad

Cheers.

Scott

For the record I don't think they should be called Workflow Items at all, since they have precisely zero to do with the Workflow Tab.

Scott,

This is on our list to clean up - That for sure has a bunch of mixed uses of words and lacks clarity and consistency.
