Potential picklist bug.

I am having some problems with a "Linking Pick List (With search filter)".

 

I can't clear the field if I previously have selected something.

 

If I click the red X I get:

And the picklist is cleared, except a NBSP is inserted.

I can't figure out how to delete the

Is the picklist value assigned to an existing field?

Not exactly sure what you ask, but to elaborate:
The picklist values are coming from a filtered workspace.
I have two derived fields next to the pick list that are pulling in values form the workspace when a selection is made.
Initially the picklist selection is blank/null and the two derived fields are also blank/null.
When I make a selection, the derived fields correctly pulls in the derived values.
My problem occurs if I try to clear the picklist again. I would expect all 3 fields returning to null/blank.
Instead I get the above error and a

Can you attach a screenshot of the configuration of the picklist field in question so I can understand the issue better?
