Language used in Computed Fields and Scripting

What coding should I learn to be able to create codes for computed fields?  What language should I learn to be able to create scripts (Administration --> System Configuration --> Scripting)?

Comupted Fields use PostgreSQL syntax:

Scripts are written in JavaScript 1.5 notitation.
