Can't add item to Linked Items tab

Hi, I'm having a problem where I can't add a certain item to the Linked Items tab in a revisioning workspace.  The item is in a valid lifecycle status and is not currently being managed by another record.  The revisioning workspace is setup correctly and works fine for all other items.  It's just this one item that is giving me problems.  It shows up in the LOV for the Linked Items but is red so I can't choose it.

One other piece of information, a Working version of the item is showing up in the Revision dropdown of its record along with the expected "Active A" version.  However, there is nothing listed on the Workflow tab for the Working version.  Could it be orphaned somehow?

Please help.  Thanks!

Hi Joe,

Hope I understood this issue correct.

By design PLM360 automatically creates a working version of a revision controlled item as soon as the item get a new revision.

So a working version along with "Active A" should be ok.

On "Active A" revision of the item check the "linkeditemsreferences" or workflow tab. It has to be linked to a Revisioning item.

If it has nothing on the "linkeditemsreferences" tab, then I am not sure how the "Active A" version was created.

If you are not able to select the Item from a linked item tab of a Revision workspace, try the reverse.

Go to the Revision Controlled Item and try to create Relationship using the "Create Relationship Icon/button" next to create button on the item.

Also you will have to work with "Working" revision of the item.

Regards,

Ravi

Ravi, thanks for the reply.  Let me address your points.

We have the option to always show Working version turned off so I would not expect to see the Working version unless there was an active revisioning activity happening on it.  I would expect to see the revisioning record listed under the Workflow tab of the Working version, but currently there is nothing listed.  No other released items have the Working version available from the Revision dropdown, as expected.

The item was originally created with a revisioning record which is listed on the Workflow tab of the "Active A" revision.  That revisioning record has completed its workflow and the item was released so I would expect the item to be available for another round of revisioning.

So I tried the reverse by creating a link from the item and I am getting a note that "This item has already been linked to an incomplete Revisioning item."  I tried this with both the "Active A" and Working versions on the screen (not sure if it makes a difference).  The system thinks the item is currently under revision but I see no evidence of this (except for the mysterious Working version).

Hi,

Was your item's last revision in Obsolete lifecycle state; are you trying to reinstate the item again?

No, nothing to do with obsolete. Just going from A to B.

Ok good )). In your lifecycle transition editor, do you have the 'increment version' checkbox checked for the trans A to B?

Both the Increment Version and Increment Release checkboxes are checked. Obsolete is not checked.

sorry, wrong lifecycle transition info requested., really, I was looking to see if 'increment version' is checked for the lifecycle transitions leading into your current lifecycle state A, not the ones going out of it.  if so, this is your culprit. otherwise, if the transition that placed the latest item revision into its current lifecycle state has 'increment version' checked, then my recommendation is to seek technical support assistance and log a ticket with PLM 360 Support.

Hope this helps,

Hmmm... okay, the transition leading into "Active" has the same setup as the ones leading out.

How do I log a ticket? You guys have always opened tickets for me from this forum. I don't see an option for PLM 360 when creating a ticket on the Autodesk Customer Service & Support page where I can view and create cases.

Thanks Martin.
