Can advanced print views contain data from multiple workspaces?

Hi,

I have a workspace with far too many controls in it that I want to split up into pieces for performance purposes. At the end of the day, however, I need to generate a single Advanced Print View that utilizes data from all those multiple workspaces. Is this possible? If so, what would my best strategy be for doing this?

Thanks in advance,

Dave

Hello David,

This is currently not possible to have an advanced print view use data coming from more than one workspace. However, there is an interesting idea on the IdeaStation for PLM 360 where someone is asking to embed reports within an advanced print view. This could mean you would start by creating an advanced print view against one of your workspace and then embed a report that was created against another workspace. I would suggest you add a comment explaining your use case to this feature request.

HI,

I would like to know if this functionality is implemented since the post?

Reporting and printview are capable of pulling data from single workspace presently. If your intent is to aggregate or unify a collection of items spanning multiple workspaces, then taking an API approach that can sum up all needed data and transform into one view may be an option, depending on what you're after. In case you wish to pull data from other workspaces in the context of the item being printviewed, then Fusion Lifecycle supports deriving values from items from other workspaces and presenting them in the context of the current item being viewed. Then you can use Printview to report on the item whose source data values may be federated across multiple workspaces. Here<> is more info on derived fields. Additional info on how to search/retrieve items from multiple workspaces via API can be found here<> and here<>. Hope this helps,

Hi Martin,

Thank you for your answer but we can't use derived field in the grid tab (not in the list for "Data Type"). Do you have a solution for this way?

Moreover, I do not understand how to use the API if you can give me the link that you would like to share it can help me.

Cheers,

Sylvain

Hello Sylvain,

You can use the REST API to execute a report and retrieve the results in JSON or XML format. The online help has more information under REST API v1 Reference > Resource Endpoints > Reports > Report > GET: Retrieve a report.

Thank you,
