I think some of this is down to my machine, but I have observed it on other computers too - that the BOM tab can be slow to load - both to show its own information and when loading the window from where you can add elements.
Today I am also finding that not only is it slow, but is now throwing up an internal server error when I try to view the BOM tab in one workspace. Others seem to be OK (just slow).
