APIv1 fileStorageKeyHash

Can anyone explain how the attachment/fileStorageKeyHash is calculated.

Is it on the attached file only? If so, what algorithm is used?

I am hoping that I can compare a file on my local computer with a PLM attachment without having to download the full attachment.

(I don't trust filesize alone).

Thanks,

Sten

Sten,

I hope that Support has reached to you already.  Apologies for the tardiness in replying here. This is a reserved variable that isn't PLM-managed and calculated; hence shouldn't be used for comparing local file copy to an uploaded file.

My recommendation is to use a binary compare tools or algorithm that calculates and compares hashcodes between a local and a downloaded file.

Ok,
Too bad. I was going to use it to avoid downloading attachments that I already had. If I have to download to determine the hash it all becomes a moot point.
Do PLM doesn't use this value at all?

Thanks,
Sten

That is too bad.  My intent was to use the has to avoid downloading.
I guess I will use date/time + filesize instead.  Thanks. Sten
