ObjectARX 2009 + Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite + Vista 64

Hi all,

Just wondering if anybody has had a problem installing ObjectARX 2009 on Windows Vista 64 for Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite. The Windows Installer report I receive is "There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. A script required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."

Many thanks and regards,

Steve.

The ObjectARX 2009 SDK is just a self-extracting .exe file, so I don't see
why you would receive a Windows Installer error.

Hi Owen,

Thanks for the reply.

I could have been a little more specific. You are right, the ObjectARX 2009 exe does self-extract, which works fine for me. It is when I run ..\utils\ObjARXWiz\ArxWizards.exe that I receive the problem.

Many thanks and regards,

Steve.

Hi all,

I neglected to check the Readme.txt file which accompanies the installer. The file lists the directions for how to run the installer on Vista, as follows...

How to install on Vista
=======================

The ObjectARX wizards will install successfully on Vista, if you either :

1) disable 'User Account Control' before installing the wizard,

2) launch the wizard installer from a command prompt launched with administrator privileges,

NB : if you are still having a problem, verify your antivirus do not prevent VBscripting to execute while installing the wizards.

I used option 2 which installed ObjectARX 2009 successfully.

Regards,

Steve.

I had the same problem on Vista x64 before turning off UAC.

With UAC out of the way, the wizards installed with no probems.

The ObjectARX 2009 wizards are for VS 2005; the MSI will not install the
wizard for VS 2008. 🙂
