access .dwg by ODBC

i heard objectARX allows one to access a dwg by odbc, so i could get the information i need by SQL.

is that true? how is it done, i cant find any information about that topic.

what i want to do is:

- find some blocks on layer 1 (they represent lamps)

- find other blocks that consist of a polyline an attributes on another layer (ployline represents a room)

- determine which lamp is in which room

- transform this information to structureded data (xml containing all the attributes of the rooms and lamps)

is it possible (and a good way) to get the needd information via ODBC?
