XData to polyline and blocks

Hi all,

I am trying to store some data to polyline entities. and I'm planning to use xdata. Is it possible to store some string and integer values? Also each of them should have a tag name like block attiribute names.

For example:

Type= "XLPE"

Capacity= "Medium"

LengthMultiplier= 3

thickness=5

etc.

I searched internet for utilizing xdata, and it seems that Xdata is only for predefined types such as: datalayername, dataycoordinate, datazcoordinate,datascale etc. And it seems it is not possible to store more than one string with tag name.

Am I wrong?

Hi,

You can store almost anything in xdata, even binary info , the group code 1000 is used to store string data, and xdata cand have multiple 1000 group codes, if you need something like a key/value pair, you can use a string with some conventional format like "Name:SomeName" , you can see this xdata group codes. Also you may want to search for named dictionaries.
