I'm completely new to AutoCad and this seemed like
the logical place to start with my particular question. My engineering
department uses AutoCad 2007 and Inventor 11 and I am trying to figure out if
there is a way to pull the BOM/Part's List out of either software package and
push it into a MS SQL 2000 DB where I can manipulate that data and then insert
that data into our ERP DB. Obviously the 2nd part has nothing to do with
this forum, but I'm hoping I might get some help with the first part. I'm
having a hard time finding resources and any would be appreciated.
This is not really a ".NET" question but it can and has been done using AutoCAD and .NET programming. Be advised it is a substantial undertaking.
Our company has such a system and it is home-grown.
Even though there were off-the-shelf products that did something similar we always had the issue of tying into our legacy production systems. In addition to tying into our systems we had the issue of the nuances our factory and production methods. Nothing off-the-shelf would satisfy our needs.
This is the same problem I am having. Exactly. Nothing off the shelf + legacy systems. And there is not much documentation on doing this. I am 1 man I.T. dept, trying to figure this out. With close to 0 documentation (atleast with respect to BOM).
