how to read a lisp variable for use within .net

Hi,

I have a question. usssing autolisp i have defined/ crearted a variable and set it lets say for arguments sake the variable is called MYVAR and its value is 12345

this is quite easy to call/ read ussing autolisp, and once read i can set for instance the distance of an offest or whichever i like. problem though is that i want to process the value of the variable MYVAR (which was set with lisp) via my .net application

in short how can i read a variables value for futher use in .net (autocad API) when it was set in lisp at an earlyer stage?

I did also come accross the following article but cant figure out how to do that which im needing to do?

How did you save the variable in LISP?  Is it persistant when you shutdown AutoCAD?  Is it a system variable or a drawing variable?  All of these need to be taken into account in order to access the variable in .net.
