Custom Attribute Editor - Override Edit Command?

Does anyone know of a way to "intercept" the block edit command and use your own functionality? What I'd like to do is bring up a custom form when somebody tries to edit a particular block's attributes. I know you can set up an event to watch for CommandWillStart in the document to find out when someone is trying to do the edit, but is there a way to cancel/override that command with your own functionality? Or is there another way to accomplish this? Thanks for your help.
