Converting VBA code to .net?

I created an acad.dvd file several years ago. Our office is now running Autocad 2012 x64 with the addon for VBA. We have discovered that the speed of certain operations are greatly affected using the VBA code and I am wondering if this code can be directly converted to .net and if this is even a good idea. The code mostly deals with layer manipulation for different commands as well as updating our date stamp for different commands. I can attach the code if someone wants to see it.
