BeginExit event

Working on a VB.net 2005 exe that instantiates AutoCAD 2004 or 2005. Our app requires acad.exe to always be running. WithEvents is being used during the instantiation and the BeginExit event calls another procedure that closes the drawing(s), sets visible to false, and sets Cancel to True. This works for AutoCAD 2004 but the same vb.net code does not work for AutoCAD 2005 so when the user opens a drawing from windows explorer, then closes AutoCAD, acad.exe ends. Does AutoCAD 2005 behave differently for some reason or am I doing something wrong? Thanks.
