AutoLISP-Callable Functions in Managed Applications

A new attribute, Autodesk.AutoCAD.Runtime.LispFunction, allows managed applications to declare methods that may be called from AutoLISP.

Could anybody provide a small code example for this ?

How does this help, as compared to CommandMethod attribute?
Seems like I could call either easily from lisp.
Just trying to understand the thinking going on...
