AutoCAD 2010 and VB.NET

Hello,

Does someone know if text attributes can be linked and updated through .NET from Excel to AutoCAD? I did not see this topic in the Autodesk References. Perhaps can someone send a link or identify a reference. I would be much obliged.

THX,
Dan McRae

AutoCAD provides no way to do that, but it is certainly possible
to develop an extension that can do it.

So, if are you asking if that functionality comes in the box, or if
it can be implemented via code, the answers are no and yes
respectively.

THX Tony,

Appreciate the positive feedback. And regarding a past comment, I did heed and spent more time looking at the AutoCAD API.

THX again

Hi Dan. I'll also apologize for my previous comments.

Most of us here have invested a lot of personal time learning the use this
API, and while helping others to get up to speed is something most of us are
willing and eager to do, it can require a lot of extra effort to explain
things in terms that someone who hasn't yet gotten down the basic concepts
can understand.

So, by becoming familiar with those concepts it, becomes easier to
understand the brief answers that most are willing to offer here, and you
will get more help from the group.

Learners also may not realize that code samples showing how to do even
simple things which may only require only a few lines of VBA code, are not
nearly as simple or short in .NET. Even the simplest tasks can require a lot
of code, and that's the main reason why others may be somewhat reluctant to
provide them on request.

Your best friend is the newsgroup search function, which you can use to find
lots of previously-posted sample code as well as answers to many common
questions.

You should also look at the online documentation since it includes sample
code that shows how to do most of the things you've been asking about here.

The docs are at this (strange) URL:
