algorithm for point label placement inside polygon

Hi. 

I have a database containig more than 5000 parcels. each parcel have its set of points with their labels, and for each parcel I have to generate a drawing. Is there an algorithm for placing point labels inside the polygon of the parcel with minimum overlapping ?

This is not solution for your problem but to check if any point is inside the polygon place a ray from tested point and get all intersections between ray and polygon.

If number of intersections is odd then point is inside, even is outside. But special situation is when ray crosses one of the polygon vertex.
