treating XREF overlays as attachments

Navisworks 2010 doesn't appear to be distinguishing between XFREF overlays and attachments like AutoCAD does. Are all XREFs in AutoCAD drawings treated as attachments?

13 years later and still nothing is done. Autodesk... this is unacceptable.

Navisworks is dead. Accept that as 'solution'

This has been added for the 2024 release.  Note that the option to Convert Overlay's is on by default so that functionality is consistent with prior versions and workflows, but overlays can now be disabled separately from attachments.

Thank you,

Very nice! It has been a hot minute, but I am thankful none-the-less.

I am using AutoCAD in reinforced concrete now (as a vendor), and much less conceptual (as a contractor sending/receiving information from vendors). So the functionality is a little less needed, but it is great to know that the functionality will exist if I choose to upgrade, so thank you very much for mentioning!

Everyone here will be pleased to know that in the 2024 version you can now choose to convet Attachments or Overlays.

This should satisfy your needs.

Please mark this as the Answer.

I guess so, I saw a response saying it was. Been working as an Engineer in
Training/Drafter in precast concrete... and usually, as a vendor of
individual products, you don't even want to trust dwgs from a civil drafter
(Plus, often, objects are not even drawn to scale even when a scale is
stated). As such, I haven't personally found out for sure yet.
