By word of further explanation, I have been sent a compiled nwf file put together from nwc files produced from different 3D software packages. I do not have access to all the original models in their native format.
My colleague has asked me for a scale print off a particular orthographic section view of the nwf model at a large scale. He then wants to mark up a hard copy.
The only way that I can think of doing this is to export the section as a jpg file, process the file to obtain a negative, insert the resulting file into CAD and then rescale it to suit.
This just seems to be a long winded way of proceeding to me + the print may well be a bit fuzzy.
Is there a simpler way of producing a scaled print?
Its an electronic review tool, not design software. Besides, why print when you can add markups, tags, saved views, and redlines to the NWF? Those will come through a published NWD and make the intentions more clear than a paper markup ever could.
Hi Tcaddy, To reinforce dgorsman's reply, Navisworks isn't really intended for this purpose. As an 3D electronic tool you should be able to get more out of an NWD with viewpoints with comments and measurement markup, it may be worthwhile investigating if a change in workflow may be beneficial to both parties.
You can print from Navisworks but if you want markup drawings, Navisworks isn't really appropriate. Your workaround is the best way around this if you do need these drawings.
I am running into a similar problem.
Our contracts want a PRINTABLE 2D copy of the coordinated floors.
Is there ANYWAY to print to scale at all ? I know what Navis is used for, but that doesn't change the fact that I have a composite I can clearly see, I can zoom up on and "print" but all I can find to do in Navis is WORSE than taking a screenshot..
