Hi folks,
Does naybody know if it is possible to create a datatools connection to a database and for navisworks to save the position coordinates of each item of MEP into this database?
Any help much appreciated!
Not sure if Navisworks will do what you are thinking. It doesn't write any information to the database, its merely a lookup for additional information which isn't stored in the model. For example a part number in the component would be used as a lookup index in an external database to pick up cost, vendor name, and lead time for ordering.
Should be possible. Check the API board next to this one.
Right so i have been trying to get navisworks to connect to my database. It simply wont work for me. I'm getting the following error:
"Unable to set one or more links to active due to insufficient/invalid information. Setting them to inactive."
I'm trying to connect to a very simple table in a SQL server 2008 R2 database. This is my SQL:
"SELECT * FROM dbo.T_BIM
WHERE [Type]=%prop('Item','Type');"
This is the table:
T_BIM
ID Type Comments
1 Duct 123
2 Duct Fitting 456
3 Multi-View Part 789
Not sure why this is not working. I can connect with ms access no problem via odbc.
Tried doing this with a local sql express database and im still getting no joy. I really cannot find any help anywhere so it would be highly appreciated if anybody could shed some light on the issue. I cant see where im going wrong with this at all. Right now i just need to get the basic datatools linkup running.
