Remove material render from navisworks 2015

Hi

i have received a couple of .rvt files that when appended into navisworks manage 2015 they import.complete with material renders applied. The models look great, but I am unable to change the appearance colour of items through selecting them. 

Is is there a way to of switching the renders off so I can alter the appearance of items to highlight clashes/ markups etc

is is it a case of manually deleting the material libraries that have imported in the autodesk render window?

any help would be appreciated

Is it not a question of
on the Home tab -> swithcing off the 5th last button "Autodesk Rendering"
AND/OR
on the Viewpoint Tab -> 4th last button -> Mode -> Shaded (instead of Full Render) and then save a viewpoint to remember this setting.

I had switched off 'autodesk rendering', but hadnt toggled the viewpoint from 'render' to 'shaded'......
