RAC, RMEP and NW porblems

Have built a bldg in RAC 2011, Linked into RMEP to do Mech layout.  Exprted Both RAC and RMEP thru exportes to nwc.  Then we luanched NWM, open both nwc's and saved as repsctive nwf's.  created new world, ammended RAC ist, then ameeended RMEP........one time RMEP comes in ABOVE the RAC, next time it comes in BELOW the RAC, and even one time the RMEP was overscaled and above.  Has anyone seen this crap before?

It seems very bizarre that an NWC from the same model would come in at a different place.

Is this the same NWC file (exact same version) from Revit MEP or has the file been recreated from Revit?

What Export settings do you use from Revit MEP?

What has changed on the machine (hardware and software) between the two occasions?

In the properties are the Levels set correctly before or after?

Hey Lee,

I know it's crazy.  Attached is a screen shot of the vast vert. diference.  Here's the process used.

I Created the Bldg with my RAC 2011, with all serve pacs.

I downloaded RMEP 2011 to trial, and got all sp's.

Opened RMEP, LINKED in the building, MONITORED the Levels from the Bldg Link

Already had the NW Exporter from before, but downloaded and reinstalled again.

Exported RAC Bldg as nwc.

Exported RMEP as nwc.

put both on thumb drive, went to friends office who has NWmanage, opened ind. nwc files and saved as nwf's respectively.  Then launched new project, appended the Bldg.nwf 1st, then the MEP.

Attached is the results.  Even if I bring the MEP 1st, and then the bldg, it still does as shown.

Export Setting for both RAC and MEP were exactly the same.

At a loss.

This sounds slightly different. From the initial post I assumed this was a like for like comparison.

We have a few possible theories why this might be happening and we'd like you to give these a try. Please let us know how you get on with them as it may help other users.

We don't support Linked files in 2011, and it's possible there's some strange behavior depending on how the file was mapped when the Link was made, you have Positioning options in the dialog when you select the file for Center, Base Point, Origin and Shared Coordinates. Does linking the model in a different way change the behavior?

When you export which Coordinate system are you using? Internal Project or Shared?

You say that the MEP files sometimes appear above, and sometimes below the main model, do they ever appear in the right place? Do you ever get different results on the same machine with the same files, or just between different machines with the same files?

Although it shouldn't be causing this problem, why are you saving the first level NWC files in NWFs, then using those NWF's in the Bldg.nwf. this extra level of complication should be avoided unless the MEP and Architecture NWF's are being worked on seperately as part of your workflow.

We will support Linked files in 2012, due out in the next couple of weeks. It might be worth trying an alternate workflow in this when it's out.

If all of this fails then we'd recommend you log a support case in the Subscription Center and upload the files so we can investigate further (rather than leaving your files on a public forum).

Have you made sure when you export from Revit to NWC that you are in the same view (3D Home view)? It shouldn't really make a difference but I know when exporting to DWG from Revit, if you are in a plan view you get 2D lines in AutoCAD, where as if you are in a 3D view when exporting, you will get a 3D model in AutoCAD.

Hope this helps. Best of luck.
