Orbit tool - shortcut to non classic version

Hello,

I'm using the "new version" for orbit, i.e. not the classic orbit version.

The shortcutkey for orbit tool is Ctrl+7, but when I use that I just get the classic orbit. This must be an error, so is there an alernative shortcut or a way to set that to get the "correct" version?

INFO: I have of course NOT ticket of for classic tool in my settings!

VERSION: Autodesk Navisworks Simulate 2012 (64-bit), version 9.0.0.69686

regards,

Lars A.

Same problem here in 2021.

Need the solution for orbit direction when use keyboard shortcut Control+7.

It shoud go to NEW orbit, but Navisworks response as CLASSIC orbit which is reverse direction to the other Autodesk application. Very annoying to me.

I just use > press and hold SHIFT key and press and hold mouse wheel, this gives me the 'new' orbit tool.

Hi, thanks for your reply, but it seems not to help in this case.

The think is, what we try to do, is to switch between the different navigation options using keyboard shortcuts:

Ctrl+1

Ctrl+2

Ctrl+7

to use the corresponding options, as they are presented in the following picture.

rsaczek_1-1633513349111.png

Now the problem is, that pressing Ctrl+7 does not toogle the 'new' orbit option, but always the 'classic' one.

The problem seem to be as old as to the day when the 'new' orbit option was introduced to NavisWorks.

I think it is been forgotten to map the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+7 to the 'new' orbit option.

If you were so kind to try the Ctrl+7 shortcut you will get an orbit that looks like in the following picture.

rsaczek_3-1633514775728.png

What we woult like to get then is the 'new' orbit looking like:

rsaczek_2-1633514292459.png

At the moment it ist possible to use the 'new' one only by pressing the button "7." as shown in first picture with the mouse. No keyboard shortcut possible.

Best regards

Hi @Lars_A  @r.saczek

If you want to edit the hotkeys, you can open and modify the "RoamerCommands.xml" located in C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Navisworks Manage [Version]\Layout.

Before editing, make sure you saved a backup for the original XML file.

From the original XML I found this lines and it shows these 2 kinds of orbit. The first maybe the classic and the second is the new one.

I have not tried this method as my computer is in administration mode, but if you could modify the above images to:

Let me know if this works.

Thank you @lumbera.darwin for the fix!

Works like magic 😊

Still think this should be fixed by Autodesk, time to switch to "new" orbit 😷

Hello

I have raised a ticket with our development team to get this look at and resolved.

Assuming there is no specific reason it has been left, it should be updated in the coming future fixes.
