NW Simulate error message

We have one workstation where Navisworks simulate will not open .nwf or .dwg files. When rying to open either file type an error message displays relating to a specific file - lcdbx2007.dll.

I have tried a repair install, full reinstall, and also through Windows full uninstall and re-install from scratch; results remain the same.

The software can open .nwc files, but this is not sufficient as then the end user cannot be sure he's looking at the latest version. The same software was functioning normally on the PC yesterday, nothing else apparent has changed.

Copy of the error message attached.

cadadmin,

Hello. The file you are trying to load, does it have any 3rd party objects in it? Does it require and object enabler? What is your loader year set to in your Options window? You are trying to access the 2007 loader in this error message. Set it to a different loader year and try to open the file(s).

Have you tried to reinstall or repair the .NET environment? Have you tried using a different user profile?

Hi there,

It is likely that there is some conflict on the machine preventing lcdbx2007.dll from loading e.g. a missing dependency DLL. In such a case, usually there are several different copies of a given DLL on the machine, Navisworks needs a specific version, and now for some reason it's not finding it.

In addition to what David has mentioned, here are some other things to try:

  • What other AutoCAD 2007 & vertical products are on the same machine? Have any of them recently been installed/updated?
  • Has the PATH environment variable been changed, which might cause a new order of DLL search?
  • If you use the free Dependency Walker tool and have it query lcdbx2007.dll (found under <Navisworks Install Directory>/lcdbx2007), does it highlight any missing dependencies? (It will always identify certain Navisworks & Microsoft DLLs as missing, but any other errors may highlight the cause).

Hope that helps,

Jeff
