NW 2014 shows not all (MEP) elements

Hi @ all,

i have an problem with NW 2014 and MEP (2014) drawings.

In ACAD / MEP i can see all elements. If i import this drawings into NW some elements / parts are not shown correctly.

In the pictures you see the drawing in ACAD (green parts are there) and in NW (green parts are missing). There is only a shape at the top and bottom of this elements.

I've tried to update NW 2014 SP2, installed the MEP OE and also ACAD NW Export Utility. But the problem is still there.

Has anybody the same problems or maybe a solution?

Thanks

greets

Michael

Hi,

This problem exists since a long time ago and has still not been corrected by Autodesk :

Change CAD software is the best thing you can do.

Alexandre, I believe the crashing issue with Plant 3D DWGs, logged previously, was addressed in the 2015 release.

Michael, for the missing elements in Navisworks, the first thing to check is if there are missing Object Enablers listed in the Scene Statistics.

If there are no missing Object Enablers listed, then we can move on to looking at other things, but if there are missing Object Enablers listed, then we need to fix this first.

The following blog postings have information on using and troubleshooting object enablers:

Now I know I left my model around here somewhere…

So my model is there, you say, I just can't see it…

Maybe the next picture is helpfull for finding a solution

ACAD_Info.JPG

It looks lite that NW has problems to import / show _MVPART

If i use the explode command in ACAD the result in NW looks like this:

NW3.JPG

I get some parts shaded and other parts in wireframe graphics.

Thanks for help

Do you see the MVParts (without exploding) in Navisworks if you switch to a wireframe view?

Wireframe view doesn't help. I cant't see the MVParts (only exploded)

Dear Micheal,

I believe you may already tried but setting the PROXYGRAPHICS parameter in Autocad MEP to 1 helpes display of the mv parts proper in Navis. I had a similiar issue before and changing this parameter solved some issues.

PROXYGRAPHICS would be a good thing to test, as it would provide another way for Navisworks to find geometry for the object.

I found a note in the AutoCAD Architecture-MEP 2015 Object Enabler Readme about the update fixing an issue where "Some MVParts appear to have missing faces in shaded visual styles."

If you have the 2015 version, you could check if the issue continues there (with the latest OE).

Sorry for my late answer,

my problems are still there.

PROXYGRAPHICS doen't change anything.

Testing the 2015 Version is at the moment not posible or me.

So i have to find a solution for the existing problem.

greets and thanks for helping

If exploding the MVPart in AutoCAD allows the geometry to be displayed in Navisworks, you could possibly work around this issue by using the AECTOACAD command, to convert all of the elements in the DWG to basic AutoCAD geometry (and check if you are still seeing partial wireframe components of the MVPart in Navisworks).
