New to BIM

I have what probably is a dumb question but I'm new to the whole BIM process and confused about what exactly Navisworks does. Is Navisworks used to actually draw in? Or is all of the "drawing" done in CAD or Revit and then imported into Navisworks for collaboration, review, rendering, conflict analysis, etc.?

Thanks for the help.

Navisworks is a non-editable program. You can not create or edit in Navisworks. It will take a 26mg Revit file down to 630k.
Navisworks will pull together 30+ different file formats to allow collaboration between many different users and software.
You can do take-offs, clash detection, timeliner to show the time line of construction, animations, renderings, and a bunch of other things.

You can have the Freedom Viewer which allows you to see everything in the file but none of the functionality. You can run any animations and such that are already in the file you have received in Freedom Viewer or just view the model.

this is just a snipit of Navisworks...

You can't think AutoCAD and run Revit.
