Navisworks - Overlay Text - Adding comments?

Comments have been added to Tasks in Timeliner.  Is there a way to have the comments appear in the Simulation?

In the Simulation Settings there is the Overlay Text option which has the date, time, etc set up.  Is there a way I can add an extra line for the comments associated to the Tasks so during the simulation they appear?

Thanks in advance.

Hi gilbertm,

It is not possible to have the comments show in the scene view while the simulation plays as overlay text.  I recommend logging an enhancement on our customer feedback page with regard to this:

As a workaround, you can have comments display within the comments window while the simulation plays in the application:

1. Open and pin the comments window (View > Workspace > Windows > Comments)

2. From the Simulate tab of TimeLiner, play the simulation

3. Select the active tasks from table the as the simulation runs. You’ll need to do this otherwise the comments window will not update.

If you were hoping to send your simulation as an AVI to someone that does not have Navisworks, you could instead send an NWD of your project and ask them to download the free Freedom viewer from http://www.autodesk.com/navisworksfreedom.  Navisworks Freedom has the TimeLiner playback tool that will allow you to playback the simulation along with the comments window to view the comments as the simulation plays as described above.

Please let me know if this answers your questions.

Hi. I have couple of queries:

1. I have about 7-8 colors displaying at a time during my Simulation Video.

Identifying the color representation is difficult for the Team. They have to refer to a print out everytime.

I want to show the Apperance Definition (at the bottom) during the playback of the Simulation video.

Is there anyway we can do it in NW Simulate 2014?

2. When I run the Simulation video (another project), the activities are not in hierarchy. The Summary items (Pour 1, Pour 2, etc.) are lined below each other and their respective activities are lined at the end. It is very difficult to identify as to which activity is under which Summary Activity. I have an image of the same attached. Please Help.

Thanks in advance.
