Navisworks Manage 2012 - Resolved Clashes

Hi, After I run clash detection and go to the "Results" tab, we set the Status of some items to Resolved. But if we run the Clash Detective test again, the same item is set back to "New" in the Status column, how do we get around this so we don't have to check the status of already checked items? IOW, is there a method to set the status to Resolved

permanently?

Thanks

Any suggestions are welcome.

Would be much appreciated if someone from AutoDesk can help.

Thanks

Hi

Changing the status of a clash to "Resolved" doesn't actually resolve the clash (would be nice if it did). When you re-run your clash test, Navisworks finds the clash again and resets any status overrides accordingly, i.e. the clash has to actually be resolved for the "Resolved" status to be achieved.

You can use the status settings "Reviewed" or "Approved" to override the status setting, these settings will be maintained when re-running the clash tests.

I use the "Reviewed" setting to mark clashes for review, i.e. approved pending approval with disciplne etc.

and "Approved" for (yes you guessed it) approved.

Cheers

John

Also...

From the documentation

New - a clash found for the first time in the current run of the test.

Active - a clash found in a previous run of the test and not resolved.

Reviewed - a clash previously found and marked by someone as reviewed. This could be used in conjunction with the assign to feature, see Assign a Clash.

Approved - a clash previously found and approved by someone. If the status is manually changed to “Approved”, the user currently logged on is recorded as the approver, and the current system time is used as the time of approval. If the test is run again, and the same clash is found, its status stays as 'Approved'.

Resolved - a clash found in a previous run of the test and not in the current run of the test. The issue is, therefore, assumed to be resolved by changes to the design file and automatically updated to this status. If the status is manually changed to “Resolved”, and a new test finds the same clash, its status will be changed back to “New”.

@jjbenstead

We have a similar issue, although we have been marking all of our approved clashes as approved. ie if a pipe is going through a VAV box's access area. The VAV box has a dashed voided area in the family that shows the access area. Clashes with this are technically clashes, although they do not need to be fixed, therefore we mark them as approved. Sometimes they come back as new clashes, nearly everytime we re-export the DWF file. Navisworks uses the GUID to determine if the clash is new or not. The GUID for these clashes are the same as the previous test. Why do they keep coming back?
