If you are posting using IE 9 and are seeing blank posts when posting please see the following thread in the Feedback & Questions about the Discussion Groups forum.

Hi,

I can see the problem you are having, and although we would ideally like Appearance Profiles from the 2011 Subscription Advantage Pack Add-in to be visible in the 2012 version. This isn't currently possible as the .dat file is constructed differently. I have logged an Enhancement Request with development to ensure better compatibily in the future.

I hope it isn't too much of an inconvenience to recreate the Profile in 2012

Hi Lee,
Thanks for the response.  Yes it is a huge problem.  The project is large and comple and has many distinct overrides.
This issue is forcing us to remain on 2011 which is very frustrating as we would like to utilise the advancements in 2012.

Navisworks Manage Appearance Profiler Migration 2011 to 2012

I have an issue with upgrading the 2011 Appearance Profiler .dat file into the upgraded 2012 file, I get this message: “Load failed, the file is broken.”

Process:
1. Upgrade 2011 NWF file to 2012.
2. Go to load the Appearance Profile for that file and it tells me it’s ‘Broken’.
This is an issue on large complicate project with lots of overrides…..can’t just redo if you know what I mean.

Unfortunately there isn't a way round this, particuarly as you have lots of overrides. If you had just a few then you may be able to change the .DAT file in a text editor to make it compliant, but for simplicity it would be easier to use the Appearance profiler manually.

Although we can't promise this will be the case I have asked development to look into backwards compatibilty for future releases.
