I've just started using 2015 for clashing and I'm running into an inconvenient extra step. When I select a group of clashes and press the "Group Selected Clashes" button, it groups them, but it does not default to editing the name of the group. In 2014 and before, it would allow me to just start typing to name the group. Now I have to right click on the name and select "Rename" to change it from the default. Is this expected behavior?

I have been able to reproduce the behavior you are seeing (the first time I did it, the group name was selected for editing, but in subsequent attempts it was not).
I believe that the expected behavior is what you are seeing in the 2014 version, and I am logging this issue with our developers.
I’ve found that if you select where you want the group to be placed, and use the New Group command, the new group is in edit mode (so that you can rename it), and you could then select the clashes you want to add, and drag them into the newly created group. This could be a useful workaround if creating a large number of clash groups (with a few clashes), but may not be useful if creating just a few groups, containing a large number of clashes.
(Selecting a single clash result and using the Group Selected Clashes command also leaves the new group in edit mode.)
I’ve also found that you can use the following keyboard combination (if you want to avoid clicking back on the group name, or would like to use an automation script) to get back to editing the group (if selecting the clashes first, and then grouping):
- Up arrow 4 times.
- Down arrow once.
- F2.
Thanks Lance. I will have to try out that keyboard shortcut. Do you know of any that would mark it reviewed too?
To mark as reviewed, with the group/clash highlighted do the following:
Lance,
Will this still be addressed? It's a small added step, but when doing it many times, it's very inconvienet.
It doesn't make sense that it would work selecting one clash and grouping it, but not when selecting more than that.
The up arrow work around isn't really a work around, that's even more steps to get to the renameing feature. It's kind of impressive you know about that though lol
Selecting one clash then grouping and naming it wouldnt be too bad, if I could select all the clashes at once then drag it into the new group. But, right now I have to:
click on the first
scroll to the bottom
click on the last
then drag into the new group.
That won't really due either. Is there a short cut for selecting all clashes? Like a CTRL+A in most programs?
I've moved one project to Navis 2016 and it is still this strange behavior. Hopefully this will get addressed in a service pack as it is really annoying.
