Navis Simulate 15 - exporting a nwc version 14

Good Morning All,

I am Running Revit 15 & Navisworks simulate 15.

I have been asked to supply NWC  file of my model but as .NWC release 14.

I have the option to saveas .nwf / .nwd as earlier versions but not .nwc.

I might be missing something obvious but cant find a way to do it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi James,

You will have to export the .NWC file from Revit. (File > Export > NWC) - I haven't got 2015 installed yet, but I'm assuming it will be the same.

Also, when you open a Revit file in Navisworks, it will automatically create a .NWC file for you in the same folder as your Revit model.

Best option is to stick with the .NWC export from Revit though.

Ben,

I have already used the revit exporter, It exports the NWC as release 15 only with no option for 14.

I have been asked to issue a NWC as version 14.

I tried opening up my revit model into Navisworks Simulate, but yet again it only save'as .nwf / .nwd files (versions 15 - 14 - 13)

James,

Sorry mis-read your initial question - If you re-download the Navisworks 2014 utility, you may be able to install this to 2015.

Haven't had the chance to try it myself yet but it appears this may be possible: http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Navisworks-General/Revit-2014-Export-to-NWC-overridden-by-2015-install...

Actually, if I remember correctly; when updating from 2013 to 2014, there was an option for installing the Navisworks exporter plugin - When you click on this, you will get a dropdown list of all the exporters you want instlled. The previous versions (2013, 2014 etc) should be included here.

Export an NWC 15 from Revit
Create an NWF 15 with Simulate 15
Append the NWC 15
Save as NWD 14
Provide the NWD 14 instead of an NWC 14. They are able to append that in the same way as an NWC 14.

Good idea if it wasn't strictly an .NWC they are after.

Remebmer to click the "May be re-saved" option when publishing the NWD so you can back save it to a 2014 version.

Just did the test with a NWD 2011 file:
rename the NWD file into NWC and you still can append it
