linking stp files

Hi all, New user. using Navisworks simulate 2011.

I'm having problems auto linking my files.

When I import the stp files they show up in the selection tree with the file extension eg. G2320 100A.stp, but on the planner's schedule the Activity ID is G2320 100A no extension do I have to get the planner to include the .stp for every activity for them to automatically link?

Thanks for any help.

Hi daniel.pryce,

The “Map TimeLiner Tasks from Column Name to Items with the same name” rule will only work if the Item names (extension included) are the same as the values from the TimeLiner column. Therefore, you’ll need to either:

1. Have the planner include the .stp in the schedule’s column you are mapping in your existing "Item" rule.

or

2. Create selection sets or search sets without “.stp” in their names that select your files in the selection tree.  Then use a “Map TimeLiner Tasks from Column Name to Selection Sets with the same name” rule instead to map the TimeLiner columns to sets rather than items. That will allow you to leave the schedule as is.

Please let us know if this resolves the issue.

Best regards,

Seems the fastest/easiest way will be to get the planner to adopt the extension name to the schedule...I'm not a popular guy right now it a very large activity list.

thanks for the reply John
