Linking NavisWorks file with PowerPoint

I am  a new user to Navisworks and am using Navisworks 2011 Manage. (NLM version.)

I have read in an older post, that there is a way to connect a navisworks file from within powerpoint.

In PowerPoint, I have tried...

Insert>> Object>> Navisworks Lite Control 8

But it comes up with an error, as attached.

"The server application, source file, or item can 't be found, or returned an unkown error. You may need to reinstall the server application."

Does it mean I have to load some sort of plugin?

Hello,

Which version of PowerPoint are you using?

The following are instructions for PowerPoint 2007:

In PowerPoint 2007:

  1. Click the Microsoft Office Button (top left circular button)
  2. Click PowerPoint Options (bottom middle of the panel).
  3. In the PowerPoint Options dialog box, click Popular.
  4. Under Top options for working with PowerPoint, select the Show Developer tab in the Ribbon check box, and then click OK.

RESULT: The Developer tab should be added to the ribbon.
  5. Select the developer tab
  6. Click the "More Controls" button (The wrench and Hammer left of "View Code")
  7. In the More Controls dialogue, scroll down and select NavisWorks Full Control 8 and click OK
  8. Click on the slide and drag the cursor to add and set the size of the control
  9. Right-Click the control on the slide and click properties.
  10. Specify the full path of the NWD file that you in the SRC field
  11. Hit F5 to run the slide show and in a moment, the model should load.

When you save your NavisWorks ActiveX Embedded presentation, you'll have to save it as a Macro-Enabled Presentation.

To do this:

  1. Click the Microsoft Office Button (top left circular button) and Select File > Save As (Alternatively just hit F12)
  2. Under Save As Type, select PowerPoint Macro-Enabled Presentation, give it a name, and click Save

Best Regards,
