issue microstation in Navisworks

Hi all,

Together with our colleques from France we generate an overall navisworks model. We work in Autocad, they use microstation.

When we append microstation (dng files) into navisworks (2013 and 2015) we get an issue. It looks like a scaling issue. Some parts (or parts of parts) are too big, others look ok.

We looked in the selection tree and all items are in mm.

We have played around with the file reader options of dng, no succes

Any suggestions?

thanks in advance

Arnold

If you have the units you want when using the measure tool in Navisworks, the only option left is to select the DGN file (one by one) in the selection tree and use the Right mouse menu -> File Units and Transform to "move" and "scale" and even rotate that single DGN until it is in the right location of the overall model. This transformation is saved in the NWF so if you get a new version of the same model from your collegues and save that in the same locaction (overwrite the preveious version), you only need to do that once.

Hi Patrick,

Thanks for the input...

But the strange thing, when a single item is selected in the tree and scaled the hole model is scaled, not this item alone.

Furthermore the total scope is like thousands items, so scaling them one by one, is not a solution

thanks

Switch your section tree to Compact. You shoud see all the DGN filenames.
Select in the Selection tree and you should select the Whole DGN to File units and transform.
Also check your options
-> File Readers -> DGN -> I advise to switch "convert References" OFF
Close Navisworks and restart and re-open the NWF if you change this to see the difference.
-> Interface -> Selection -> Resolution -> you could switch to "File" before you start and switch back to "Last Object" after the tranforms have completed.

This does not help either, It looks like unit and scaling is for "all content" not a single "item"

I've attached the file...?

If there is no Intellecual Property issue you can attach or private mail me the DGN file and a screenshot of what you see and how big it should be.
