Importing Animation of moving objects in Time Liner

Hi All,

I have a query about running animation of objects in timeliner. I made an animations of a moving truck using various keyframes and moving the body axis of the truck.

But if I make a timeliner simulation and click on simulation settings, i am unable to find the animation in order to link it with the timeliner simulation.

The only thing possible is run an animation of the scene navigation but the moving objects animations does not work. Can someone please guide me through this.

Also I tried to make an animation from viewpoints which works perfectly fine in Naviworks but If it is exported as an avi file the time liner works fine but the viewpoints does not change.

Is it something which is not possible in Navisworks or I am doing something wrong.

Another way which i came to know is using Scripts. I could start a script which shows the movement of objects but is it possible to combine the same script with Timeliner?

Hi Vaibhav,

You would need to change this in the Tasks tab, first make the Animations Column available by changing to an extended view: -

Then you will have the Animation column available where you will be able to add an animation set to a task. When you then go into the Simulate tab then you will be able to see the animation on that item.

Hi

Did you manage to import animation into your timeliner?

I am interested to add animation to a timeliner ,but can't get even close to this.

What would be the steps to add animation?..

Hi

I am trying to add animation set to a task but it seems the attach set comand is not available ,I mean it appears but it cannot be selected.Any idea why?

Many thanks.

In the attached NWD I have created an animation set for the door, and set the column view to extended. You will then be able to select the Animation that you want to add to the Task. In this case it's a door opening added to the DOORS WINDOWS layer.

Let me know if this answers your question

Thanks .Got it.

Except one.How would you animate an object to make it appear growing ,for example a pillar ,what trick would you use to make it extend itself .I am thinking at sectioning the element but if you know another way would be really helpful.

Thanks

See the attached model. Simply select the item and create an animation set, use the scale item box in Animator (after Translate and Rotate) to increase or decrease the size in the 2nd keyframe.

The updated model has regular keyframes where the pillar is scaled and transformed. the more keyframes, the smoother the animation will be. It won't lock to the bottom point unfortnately

I hope this helps
