I'm using Civil 3D 2013 (very limited experience with C3D) and Navisworks Manage 2014. I have to create a Navisworks presentation of a development area that shows an ortho photo of the ground. I've managed to drape the image in Civil 3D which looks just the way I want it, but when I open the file in Navisworks I don't see the draped orthophoto, only the raster image sitting below the ground surface (see attached images). The draped image is listed as a material in C3D but when I open the Autodesk Rendering window in Navisworks it says there are no materials in this document.
How can I get the draped image to appear on the C3D surface in Navisworks?
I'm not certain you can. There's a related post over at AUGI (heading out to a meeting right now - sorry I don't have a link handy).
Infraworks might be the better option in this case.
The following blog posting has information on this topic:
Draping Aerial Photos on a Civil 3D Surface in Navisworks
Lance, have you tried the solution you are suggesting?
I don't have a Civil 3D surface or matching image to attempt the process.
Have you had any success in using the steps from the blog posting?
This is a 5 year old article and this is still the best work-around? I have tried but unfortunatley my 'image' comes in as a blank grey square so ther is no 'material' associated with it. Anyone have any advice??
I tried this workflow and was successful to a point. If someone can help on why the image is inverted and rotated 180 degrees clockwise. See images below. I am using C3D 2017 and Navisworks 2017.
