Grouping Clashes Graphically

Is it possible to group clashes using the model instead of the Clash Detective results? Here's what I'm thinking and if it's possible it would save years of my life. I want to run a clash test let's say between Sheet Metal and Sprinkler. I want select "Highlight all clashes" in the clash detective. From there I want to be able to navigate through my model, select the items that I want to group, right click and have an option to "Group Clashes" from there. In other words, instead of identifying the items from the clash results, I want to select the clashing items in the model and have Navisworks know which clashes those items correspond to and be able to group them. Not sure if I'm making sense, but it would be a huge time saver. I can do it in Tekla Bimsight.....and it's free. Seems like for all the money I pay for Navis it should be able to do the same thing.

Glad I stumbled across your comment. I too would like to make life easier and the madness of clash grouping more intuitive. Yours is a great idea, I would also like to be able to select one of the clashing elements and have the clash "name" / number in the results dropdown as a tooltip or highlight it in the Clash Detective window. If it were added to the properties of the element, and searchable in Properties, it could be made into a Search Set. This seems intuitive to me.

You currently can't select geometry and then create a clash group. You have to select the clashes and then group.

We use iConstruct and they have a proximity grouping function that allows you to specify a distance. Here is a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CMdB5R6LTk They have another tool that allows grouping by zones: https://support.iconstruct.com/iconstruct/clash-manager/group-by-zones/

Not exactly what you are looking for, but I thought it might help.

You might think about making a feature request for your suggestion to be added to the product: https://www.autodesk.com/company/contact-us/product-feedback
