Export NWC files fail from Revit 2012 with log errors

Lately when exporting out NWC files from Revit 2012 for Navisworks 2012 SP1 the export fails and a log file is created with the following text.

System.ObjectDisposedException: Safe handle has been closed

at System.Threading.WaitHandle.WaitOneNative(SafeHandle waitableSafeHandle, UInt32 millisecondsTimeout, Boolean hasThreadAffinity, Boolean exitContext)

at System.Threading.WaitHandle.InternalWaitOne(SafeHandle waitableSafeHandle, Int64 millisecondsTimeout, Boolean hasThreadAffinity, Boolean exitContext)

   at NavisWorks9.LcRevitExportCommand.Execute(Application application, String& message, ElementSet element_errors)

The interesting and frustrating part about this is it's hit or miss.  If we try again it might export out correctly or it could fail 5 more times and the sixth time it exports out correctly.  Has anybody run into to this problem and if so how do we fix it.

Hi mlhart

What version of Revit 2012 and what version of the exporter is installed?

I’ve seen this issue occur with Revit MEP 2012 and the service pack 9.3 version of the 2012 exporter.  You can check what version of the exporter you have installed through the following :

Browse to the folder: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\Navisworks\2012\nwexportrevit2012
Right click the nwexportrevit2012_9.dll file and select properties. Click the details tab, and the File Version will state either 9.0.XX.XXX, 9.3.XX.XXX, or 9.4.XX.XXX depending on whether you have the exporter that installs with Navisworks 2012, the service pack for 2012, or the subscription advantage pack.

In some previous cases that I’ve seen, uninstalling the service pack 9.3 version of the exporter and installing the exporter that is included with the software has resolved the issue.

If you open Control Panel > Programs and uninstall the current versions of the Navisworks 2012 32-bit and 64-bit exporters and then reinstall the exporters by running the setup for Navisworks Manage 2012 or Navisworks Simulate 2012, does this resolve the issue?

Best regards
